it’s entertaining. but i’m already starting to grow weary of it a little bit. everyone talks about what a smart show it is but the writing can be so heavy handed. it’s like there are flashing neon signs everywhere going “wasn’t it horrible back then?!” and i think they have to do this so it doesn’t seem like they’re trying to glamourize the time period with the pretty sets and the pretty women in pretty outfits and the constant smoking. but they really are. it glosses over major issues but it never really tries to delve into them. everything is just way too obvious and ugh, there’s just not enough depth. it’s frustrating to me. of course i’m only on the first episode of the second season. so maybe it gets a bit better? at this point i pretty much only care about like two characters. anything else is just eye candy. i dunno. am i just a negative nancy?
